Classic.

I did much the same, decided to give a classic in the making an airing:

The King will indeed be a classic.

Today was supposed to be sorting out the cosmetics on a vandalised machine on a station platform. I used the (valid) excuse that paint would take hours to go off in sub-zero temperatures and ended up in Wetherspoon's warm head office in Watford installing LED lights in a prototype machine instead. Hence the slightly tatty DW-003X-4AT, worn in expectation of paint spatter

And congratulations to today's mudmen - Olivier and rutteger - nice watches!

Good to be inside sometimes :D

Cheers, think the Olivier's Men In Smoky Gray is the winner, great colour scheme!

Gone for the GW-9200 Riseman today.

don't agree! If I'm the winner, it means somebody else is the loser....which is impossible here. We all have chosen watches according to good different reasons.
==> everybody wins everyday, because nobody here has been forced to wear a "bad" watch. (philosophical way : OFF )

Why is there an AA card (Triple A for our American members) sitting on the dashboard of my car? Why is there a view of the M25 from the Clacket Lane services slip road?

I made a very bad decision this morning. With over 60 Casio watches to choose from I thought I would wear this instead:

Part 2 -

AA brought me home. Had organised vehicle to borrow, mechanic and parts while sitting roadside. Water pump 35 but ---- the cam belt needs to be disturbed to get at the pump and it is highly recommended to replace it and the tensioners - if the belt goes then pistons will hit valves and engine will be scrap so another 65. Plus 5 litres of antifreeze. And then mechanics time tomorrow :(

Then I find someone has posted a flyer in my virtual mailbox which turned out to be some fly-by-night watch forum newsletter. Bl**dy spammers :D

Went to the post office to pay 15.66 duty and handling charge on a $60 watch and to pick up another near end of life beater. This is the good watch:

By mixed tungsten and daylight:

@macspite - bad luck on the car. Hope you can get it fixed up quickly at least. Not sure the timex 100% led to the automotive issues but is it worth the risk ;) G1700BD looks great. Bad news on the newsletter, there is an unsubscribe option ;)

@sharkfin - great Dee & Ricky :D

I'm really fancying one of those Timex Ironman Shocks. Are the cases just hard moulded plastic, like a 'normal' digital watch, or actually resin like on a G Shock?

I haven't taken it apart (yet) but it seems to be hard plastic as an all-in-one moulding rather than case and bezel. One thing noticeabkle with wearing for less than a full day was that the keeper has become noticeably blackened with rubbing against the inside of my black fleece.

When /i have time I will do a series of pictures of it against a 66 or 6900.

@macspite be good to see how it compares sizewise to a G.

I like your 5600 retteger, might have to break mine out soon as it hasn't seen any wrist time in quite a while, such a comfortable watch to wear.

Cheers, often end up overlooking the old squares in favour of newer, flashier Gs. But they are great watches and of course where it all started :D

After yesterday's diversions with Timex I have returned to the fold. My borrowed Freelander drove sweet as a nut to Peterborough and back, the only disappointment being the fuel consumption. No nasty drilling or spanner wielding on site today, I was there to check readiness and feasibility for machine moves - so I could wear one of my better watches without fear of scratches:

My selection for today (and fuel for the negative v. positive display debate) This one is fine if the angle is right but most times needs the light button pressing in order to see the digits. Got some interest and positive comments when I wandered into work on my way home from a site survey though. In case you get the impression that I have had a leisurely day - once I got home I had a complex work package plan / risk assessment to draw up then write up the site survey. Project manager work yet it gets given to me. But at least my Christmas rate cut and the reduction in claimable expenses keeps me loyal and cheerful :dejection:

Does look stealthy, DIY negative though isn't it?

Thought I'd best go for Mudman to check freezing temps and in order to have a compass on hand in case I, er, get stuck in a blizzard.

Seems obvious to me - one of each!

I've been banged up in my flowery all weekend designing magazine ads, flyers and posters for our forthcoming military show. You probably haven't heard me mention it before ... :cool-new:

Not much call for a watch as I couldn't deviate from my task. Decided I ought to find something to grace these pages with so this morning grabbed the decidedly pre-owned watch I got a few days ago and slipped it on to a yellowed G-Lide band. It cost little but seems to have a bad case of resin beetle in the black part of the bezel at the 6 o'clock position, the khaki seems unaffected for the moment - maybe there are different species of beetle, each attacking a certain colour of resin?

A bit more ryhming slang I had to google - well behind the curve there.

The G looks to have seem some wear! Is it one of these pictured on G-Shock Perfect Search (http://product-search.casio.jp/wat/g-shock/history_result.php?sort=4&view=1&f_y=&f_m=&t_y=&t_m=&pr1=&pr2=&type=&wa=&so=&mo=&md=2336&func_s=&sbrand=YTowOnt9&theme1=YTowOnt9&theme2=YTowOnt9&func=YTowOnt9&case=YTowOnt9)?

Agree on the negative vs positive debate - both is the way forward :D

Given we've around 2cm of snow here in the UK and the country has ground to a predictable halt went for the snow themed DW-6900 ;)

@seanobsdot - nice to see you in this thread!

@rutteger - no snow for me (yet). Yes the watch is as shown in the linky but neither it nor watchshock.com archives show this particular colourway - needs a nice NATO strap in sand or khaki to set it off. Yes it has had some wear, another abused and bruised cheapie for me to wear on those site visits that require a drill and manual labour rather than poncing about taking pictures and measuring things.

None on the balmy South Coast? Bad luck. Think it'll melt here tomorrow anyhow. Always slightly dissapointed the perfect search isn't more, er, perfect!
