    Good old 'DW' series...

Just pulled the trigger and treated my three well-worn and well travelled DW watches to new batteries, gaskets, bezels and straps. A good clean, and they have come up like new! They've given good service for nearly 20 years, I reckon they are now ready for 20 more years.... Sent from my iPad...

    What tools have you bought...?

eBay does some really cheap kits for between £5 and £10. I supplemented mine with a GOOD set of jewellers screwdrivers for an additional £12. The jewellers-vice was £17 from eBay, and the other parts picked up here and there....

    What tools have you bought...?

Just spent the afternoon fitting out some NATO straps, adjusting the links in a couple of metal bands, and a battery change. I thought it might be interesting to ask you all: "What tools have you bought?" I've invested probably no more than £40 in 'watch tools' over the years (a ridiculously...

A nice little bargain for the weekend....

Complete with new strap. I think this watch will be a fine replacement for the DW6600. A nice big, clear dial, simple alarm and strong LED light. Not as bad a watch as the reviews would have you believe....

    WRUW 27th April 2014

Awaiting a new NATO strap, but nice and easy to see in the dark now....

A nice little bargain for the weekend....

Hi Sengyoku! The module was no problem to remove at all, it just 'pops out' same as the DW6600 and the 'Gulfman' watches I have. The only issue I had was following the battery change and A/C reset, the hands did not align with the 'digital' time. I had bought the watch second-hand and didn't...

A nice little bargain for the weekend....

Hi there, It is not particularly difficult to disassemble, just used some jewellers screwdrivers, tweezers and a clean sheet of A4 paper under a strong lamp to keep track of the parts. Time and patience. I painted the hour-hand 'in situ' and rotated the time in 20 minute increments to make...

A nice little bargain for the weekend....

Bought a GA-100 from eBay for £40. It arrived yesterday. Took it apart and painted the 'hour-hand' white to match the other, and tipped the edges in 'lume-paint' for night use. Replaced the battery and gasket whilst I was in there, and also done a 'NATO strap' conversion. Just ordered a 24mm...

    Changing the battery

So far I've replaced the batteries in three of my G-shocks myself (oldest is 14 years old), all without consequence I make sure I buy as good a battery as I can find (usually take one from the very back of the rack at a supermarket) and I ALWAYS buy a replacement gasket direct from Casio. I...

    Found an old G today

Looks like a nice sensible watch. Not ostentatious. Looks like it has worn nicely too!

The logic of modding Gs! Insanity or vanity?

That's my first attempt at "modding" finished on my (much cherished!) 16 year old DW6600. As you can see, no more 'backlit G'. Glad to see the back of THAT..! Battery changed, new gasket/silicone grease, NATO strap and adapters. I've repainted the lettering and polished-out some minor...

How long have you owned and collected G-Shock and Casio for?

Bought my first Casio (a 'databank') at the age of 11. Bought my first G-Shock (a DW6600) in 1995. Lost it two years later in a building-fire. Replaced it with another DW6600 (but with the horrible 'backlit G). Bought a second-hand DW6900 which I had for a year, ended up giving it away to a...

    Cool G-Shock story

Although the "negative display" doesn't interest me, I'm intrigued... Does it consume more battery power?

The logic of modding Gs! Insanity or vanity?

Looks excellent! I'm amazed how easy these watches are to work on. Even swapping-out the screen filter took less than 30 minutes!!
