    Final wave: Lightning Yellow

Not sure if everyone here has heard, but the final wave has been announced: Lightning Yellow.

The main controversy seems firmly on the 2nd Ti 1000-series frog of the 30th anniversary (first was a Rising Red GWT1030a that had next to zero negative vibes) and is the 3rd Ti 1000-series frog ever (first was the infamous "ruby" GWT1000bs at BaselWorld).

Not much talk at all about it including the newest bigger than life watch GDX6930e (and is the only entirely brand new watch of all 5 waves I think). What are your thoughts?

Finally, there is also a GF8230e. Making this wave odd for being a total of 3 watches, 2 of which are frogs, and no squares in sight! To be fair, the 4th wave was almost ENTIRELY squares.

Is this matte yellow or shiny like the red series?

I think shiny but don't know for a fact. I didn't go, so these photos are all most of us have.

Thanks. Those red eyes are looking good. Hope they're matte though...

Thanks for posting that up Chris and sending the info over. A little behind on my G-Shock news currently, got a few 100 Japanese blog articles to go through along with the new releases and a massive email from Chris

Cool end to the 30th year. Surprised there aren't more models though, might've expected a single square at least. Would love a good look at the GDX too...

If interest entire release on the front page > http://www.g-shockzone.com/content.p...-December-2013

A 6900 with Alpha-gel and LED backlight huh? Truth be told, I like the look of EL backlights better. LEDs produce what I call "Zombie Light" It's a cold lifeless white light that contains too much of the wrong wavelengths. It's looking like a full-scale transition from E.L. to LED is in the works before we've actually decided weather that's a good idea, I mean, do the majority of us prefer LED over E.L.?

I was hoping for a 20th Anniversary Frogman this month. I guess G-Shock doesn't do anniversary editions of other models?
If I'm gonna spend 1700 on a G-Shock, I'd want it to be something that I can wear any time and bright Yellow wouldn't fill that bill. I've never really associated the color Yellow with Lightning. Does anyone really?
Kinda seems to me that stuff is a bit scatter-brained over there at Casio G-Shock. I'd like to see a little more respect and attention to tradition.

Any clue as to what Alpha Gel is exactly? Assume it's used instead of the rubber ring which surrounds the modules in other models?

Assume the move the LED is related to the fact the technology is probably far easier to integrate onto the module than the EL. I still like the real old school backlights

@fwupow: I am planning on getting the wave and I am planning on changing the resin on the GWT. Which should help the "limited" resin quite nicely. And don't forget: yellow is a traditional color on the frog and a 1000-series hasn't come out in yellow yet

@rutteger: it is a propriety gel/foam used in addition to the ring. That is why the watches with it are so oversized. The king introduced it, it is also used in the GW-A1000 and GW-A1100.

I'm looking forward to the gdx6900 (if I like the look on my wrist) as the cr2032 battery is just huge for a simple module.

The original release was announced by Casio USA. Turns out other parts of the world (at least Japan) will have 2 more in the wave:

Like the 1st wave (Rising Red) this one will have 5 models.
