The Rangeman. A watch G-Shockers have always been asking about. An Altimeter, Barometer, Compass G-Shock. Not pick any two you want. Not settle for one. But all 3 on the same watch that is armored like a G-Shock (vs a Pro-Trek). You may have seen the prototype earlier

The main thread on the www about this watch is here http://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/rangeman-what-do-we-know-so-far-883153.html and was started by LUW. This thread shows all the twists and turns, conjecture and fact that happen when you are waaaaaay out on the bleeding edge of information. I hope to clean up and consolidate a little here to help people out.

First and foremost we know there will be 4 versions coming out "up front".

Black with positive display and Olive Drab with Negative Display

These first 3 are due to hit the Japanese Market in October. The US market in November
And Yellow with Positive Display which is also part of the final wave of the 30th anniversary.

The Yellow is hitting the Japanese Market in November, definitely not going to the US Market. Will it go elsewhere?

The module is the 3410 and you can find it here http://www.servicecasio.com/web/download/manual/3410_EA.pdf

Dimensions and bullet point features here: http://www.casio-europe.com/euro/watch/gshock/gw-9400-1er/
To make life easier, know the Rangeman sizing was based on the 9300 Mudman. If you are comfortable with that watch you will probably be comfortable with the Rangeman as well. If you are not comfortable with the current Mudman. . . . ..

Pricing is still awkward at this point. Casio USA has announced the retail on the first two (black with pos display and green with neg display) Solar and Atomic GW9400's will be US$300.

The awkward part is that the Japanese pricing on these is significantly higher. Call it US$500 for rough estimates. You have to understand that Japan is singly the largest market for higher end GShocks (call that anything over US$200) and so it comes to reason theirs will be different. We still do not know how. The current Mudman has Carbon insert Straps which the non atomics don't. Theory has it this is part of the difference. Again, not factual. Until they are both on market (November) it will be difficult to know.

The official ads. They have been getting pulled from YouTUbe, so I hope these work.

Tanaka-san has not done his work yet. I will post when he does!

In short, whether you love it "oh my gosh! I'm pre-ordering right now!" or hate it "oh my gawd! What were they thinking?" it is important to the G-shock line and Casio showing it is listening to its customers.

this isn't a must have for me. there seem to be a lot of kooky corners on this large watch

looks like the 8900 meets the xl's w/a lot of extra steel

don't know if i will ever warm up to it.

ithe black does look like a prime candidate for a darth vader collab...i would love to see a really good pic of the green

As requested

First, black with positive display

Olive Drab with negative display

And the Yellow Lightning

At this time I can't find a good photo of the darth vader. Personally I think it might turn out the best.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you consider large?

I'm already committed to the yellow, we'll see if I get any others.

Personally the 9300 is my favorite full production watch so I am definitely hoping these fit well.

I don't know if it is a must have for me, but I will buy one. I like them big. Frogs, 56's and the rangeman. Love them.

For me this is THE watch from Casio in the last 5 years. An absolute must buy that I won't even wait for the international version to come out.
Come on, the first ABC G-Shock! I've been waiting for that since the early 2000's!
