GG1000 Mudmaster Second Hand out of Sync

I have a GG1000 Mudmaster and the Second Hand is out of Sync. I perform the manual H. Adj (Hand Adjust) as outlined in the manual, but the second hand will stop working and if I tap it will start up again but will be out of sync by about 20 seconds. I have not abused this watch in any way and it has not been exposed to any strong magnetic sources that I am aware of.
Any advice? Do I need to send it in to Casio?

I bought a Demagnetizer and gave it a try. At first, nothing happened. I removed the band so the watch had better contact with the unit and the hands started going crazy. It took me a while to figure out how to manually adjust all of the hands.
