I probably should have expanded that statement. The instore prices I saw were perhaps a little cheaper than you might see instore in Europe. However the prices you might get from online sellers in the Far East (often Singapore and HK) were cheaper than I saw in store, probably like most things comparing in store vs online pricing.

Also might be worth checking this post from GTR83 > http://www.g-shockzone.com/showthread.php?854-Recommended-G-Shock-sellers&p=3533#post3533 , sounds a good store plus you might be able to ID what you want ahead of time and check stock, pricing etc.
