G-Shock 30th Anniversary Resist Black Series coming April 2013

Casio Japan have today announced the latest G-Shock release celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the world's toughest watches. The 'Resist Black' Series follows the 30th Anniversary Initial Blue Series and 30th Anniversary Rising Red Series in commemorating the release of the first G-Shock way back in 1983. The Resist Black Series features three models all of which have been chosen as iconic and significant watches in the history of G-Shock.
  • G-Shock DW-5030C - the original classic
  • G-Shock DW-6930C - the classic round G-Shock shape and one of the most iconic G-Shocks
  • G-Shock GW-5530C - a modern take on the first mud and dust resist model, the DW-5500

All three feature black bands and bezels with copper detailing designed to give that vintage feel. The G-Shock DW-5030C also features the 'PROJECT TEAM' Tough logo to the dial. All three models feature the classic 30th Anniversary custom caseback and packaging designed by Mr Eric Haze.

The new G-Shock 30th Anniversary Resist Black Series is dropping in Japan on 19th April 2013, we expect to see a very limited worldwide release.

Hi mfy2211,

Not a hundred percent sure about the 6930c making it over from Japan, but you never know what Casio have in mind. Currently the London based G Shock shops only got a handful of the 5030, so doubtful it will make the online sales. More than likely sell out before they could list it.

Hi mfy2211, I believe the 6930c and 5030c are worldwide releases, while the 5530c is japan only.

For whatever reason the 6930c is just getting significantly less press than the other two.

I track the US market and I believe it is a May release here. Not sure for the euro market.

I worked a long day yesterday so the post office wouldn't leave it at the house. Got the day off and duly headed down!

Easy Welder? I definitely wasn't expecting that!

This answers the question: "Do all the Rising Blacks come in those patina'd boxes?"

The reason I got into the rising blacks was this watch.

There is no question, the DW5030c is the star of the series. Maybe even of all the waves so far. Especially in person.

The neglected one. Very rarely mentioned when this series is brought up. Calmly handsome could be one way to describe it. And I'm not even into 6900's and I'm glad I got it.

Chris,

thanks for sharing those, look to be an awesome set in the flesh and definitely one for the collector. How are you liking the 5500, have to say it's one of my fave styles :)

Comfortable like everyone says! Surprising because watches are definitely not a one size fits all proposition. Only neg is the adjust button is a straight up pain in the neck. But how often am I gonna adjust it?

My favorite photo from yesterday (it was raining)

Great pic :D

The buttons are a little stuff in general, guess this is becasue of the mud resistant bezel. Heard of people boling up G-9000 bezels to soften them up, not sure as I'd advise it with your 5530 mind :p
