I don't have a 3500, but what you're describing sounds like the hand is out of alignment. Most (if not all) analog Gs with subdials have an alignment function, where you can align the hands to their correct positions. Does the manual mention any thing like that?

Interesting. For people who did not "grow up" with the original squares I think you have first like G-Shocks in general and then you may develop a taste for squares. It's funny, because in my mind a G-Shock is a square that lately got it`s corners rounded .
