Royal Air Force G-Shock GW-A1000 at Baselworld 2012

Following on from the news we brought you of the RAF x G-Shock GW-A1000 last month along with the G-Shock GW-A1000 preview and G-Shock GW-A1000 official press release more details have emerged on the all new model via a Japanese tech site's coverage of Baselworld 2012.

The entire G-Shock GW-A1000 range was announced ready for show at Baselworld 2012, of particular note is of course the use of Casio's Smart Access system on a G-Shock for the first time. The Smart Access system allows for intuitive operation of the watch functions via the crown and buttons which should be particularly suited to pilots.

The entire G-Shock GW-A1000 range and in particular the RAF x G-Shock GW-A1000 was developed in association with the British Royal Air Force over the course of the last year. RAF Pilot Nathan Jones was on hand at Baselworld to answer questions on the GW-A1000.

Mr Jones indicated that G-Shocks were already used by many RAF pilots (Mr Jones uses a GW-3500) due to their robustness, accuracy and atomic time sync. The key features requested on the GW-A1000 were the UTC time (dual time) function, stopwatch, countdown timer and luminous hands and dial. The finished product is sadly yet to reach the RAF and see active duty.

The RAF x G-Shock GW-A1000 is available in April or May 2012 and features a stealth gray finish along with a keeper featuring the RAF coat of arms.
